Winter day trip by coach to Boeotia combining a museum visit, the monuments of ancient Orchomenos and an easy loop hike to the Acropolis of Orchomenos, suitable for beginner hikers. Programme (indicative times): 07:00 departure from Vari by coach; 08:30–10:00 Archaeological Museum of Thebes (free entry, first Sunday of the month); 10:45–11:45 Archaeological Park of Orchomenos – Tholos Tomb (Treasury) of Minyas, Ancient Theatre and the Byzantine church of Panagia Skripou; 11:45–14:45 hike to the Acropolis of Orchomenos on Hyphanteion hill; 14:45–15:30 Springs of the Charites; 15:30–17:30 meal at a local tavern; 17:30 departure for Athens, with estimated arrival around 19:30. The hike is a 6 km loop of about 3 hours, +272 m / −270 m elevation, difficulty grade 1; at the top, at about 230 m altitude, stand the tower of the fortification, rock-cut steps, gates, the walls and an ancient cistern, with views over the Copais plain. The leader may partly or fully change the programme when objective reasons require it (weather, road conditions etc.). Coach pick-up points: INTERSPORT Vari (starting point, be there 10 minutes before departure), Voula Asklipieio, Glyfada, along Poseidonos and Syngrou avenues, Syntagma and Omonia, plus further points towards Corinth or towards Lamia, as listed on the organizer's page. Included: coach transport, experienced guides, insurance and organisation, all taxes; not included: meals, personal expenses, entrance fees to sites, equipment, anything not mentioned in the programme. The fee is €30 for members of the Taxideftes Club; families can ask for an offer. Payment must accompany the registration form, by bank deposit, IRIS or card through Eurobank live pay (card payments +2%). Cancellation by the participant more than 5 days before: the money can be used by the same person for another outing within 6 months; less than 4 days before: the money is lost; no loss if you find a replacement.
