Two days of easy hikes in Pelion for everyone, during the autumn colours of the beech, oak, plane and chestnut forests, visiting Portaria, Makrinitsa, Milies, Vyzitsa, Chania and Agios Lavrentios. Saturday 14/11: from Milies to the Milies railway station, the historic terminus of the Pelion train «Moutzouris» (the 60 cm Ano Lechonia - Milies line designed by Evaristo de Chirico, 1894-1903), walking on the rails over the Taxiarchis (De Chirico) metal bridge, through plane, oak and chestnut forest with running water, past the chapel of Agios Taxiarchis with its panoramic view and the Cave of the Centaurs, to Vyzitsa (500 m, a listed traditional settlement); traverse, 6 km, +220 m, about 3 h at a relaxed pace with stops, grade A (suitable for all). Then by coach to Portaria, hotel check-in and free time in Portaria's cobbled lanes or an optional visit to Makrinitsa. Sunday 15/11: after breakfast and check-out, coach to Chania (1,200 m, the highest settlement of Magnesia) and a walk through the beech forest down to Agios Lavrentios; traverse, 7 km, -600 m on gentle gradients, about 3.5 h at a relaxed pace with stops, grade A (suitable for all). Lunch at a selected tavern, then return to Attica. Accommodation at the 4* Xenia Portaria hotel in double rooms with breakfast.
