Important Information
Individual race of 61.7 km with a 10-hour time limit, run on the first part of the Olympian Race route, finishing in Levidi's village square, where the award ceremony takes place.
Checkpoints: Nemea (5.7 km), Aidonia (13.5 km), Platani (20.5 km), Skotini (33.5 km), Kandila (48 km), Kefalovryso (54 km).
The first 20 km are asphalt through the Nemea vineyards, apart from a 200 m dirt stretch at 2.5 km.
After Platani a 3 km stony trail climbs to the saddle at the chapel of Agia Anna; the way down is a very narrow path, so keep to the left.
Just after Skotini comes a hard 2.2 km path over rocks and stones, then a 4.4 km mountain path below Mount Oligyrtos that can be muddy after rain.
From the top of the pass it is a 7 km asphalt descent to Kandila, then asphalt to the finish.
Open to men and women aged 18 and over.
A medical certificate in Greek or English, valid for at least 3 months, confirming fitness to run 62 km is required.
The 7 checkpoints double as aid stations, with isotonic drinks, water, soft drinks, chocolate, biscuits, dried fruit and nuts; all are cut-off points, and the main cut-off is Skotini (33.5 km), which closes at 19:20.
Personal drop bags are handed in at the hotel the evening before or on race morning and are delivered in numbered boxes to the checkpoints.
Runners must carry at least 500 ml of fluid on the two legs longer than 13 km between aid stations, plus a head or hand torch.
Run on the left side of the road, facing traffic.
Bibs go on the chest and back and show name and nationality.
Music players are not allowed.
Trekking poles are allowed, but once used they must be carried to the finish.
Runners who leave the course must go back to the last aid station they passed to continue.
Receiving any medication during the race, getting into any vehicle or using doping means disqualification, and only the race doctor decides whether a runner can continue.
Crews must register with their car details and display the race signs; they may help only at the 7 aid stations, may not follow runners on dirt roads or pace them, and any crew violation disqualifies their runner.
Runners and crews must attend the crew briefing.
Runners who drop out must hand in their bib at the nearest aid station and sign the withdrawal form; organizer transport takes them to the finish in Levidi.
Finishers are expected to attend the post-race events.
Objections are filed in writing on Friday evening at the Levidi finish.
Trophies for the top 3 men and women overall, a finisher medal for everyone who finishes and a certificate for every participant.
