Hike through the virgin fir forest above Neochori (Niochori) Falaisias, with views towards the ridges of Taygetos and autumn colours, a good season for spotting mushrooms. Destination is the historic Rekitsa Monastery of Agios Georgios, built before 1600, a base for klephts and armatoloi where, according to tradition, Papaflessas lived as a monk before the 1821 Revolution. About 5 hours, elevation difference about 150 m, grade: moderate, for people in good physical condition. Back in Niochori the group can join the Hunters' Festival with food, music and dancing.
