Two-day autumn trip to Loutra Smokovou with two hikes, a raki-still (rakokazano) gathering and the thermal baths. First hike, trail Z13 (Loutra Smokovou – Loutropigi), through the wooded passages between the village and the spa town and up towards Profitis Ilias and the ancient castle of Menelais (about 977 m), through oak and cedar, with views to Lake Smokovo, the plain and the surrounding mountains: 6.7 km, 3.5 hours, point to point, +250/-600 m; grade Easy+, suitable for all hikers; terrain trodden and rocky path, forest road, asphalt. Second day, trail Z23 (Thrapsimi – Loutra Smokovou), from the village of Thrapsimi through oak and holm-oak forest with views to the Agrafa, Giona and Vardousia: 9 km, 4.5 hours, point to point, +350/-620 m; grade Moderate, suitable for all hikers; terrain trodden path, forest road, asphalt. After the hikes there is a demonstration of tsipouro making at a dedicated venue, with tasting and a meal, and time in the thermal baths: the spa lies in a green ravine at about 450 m, 6 km from Loutropigi, fed by five springs at about 37–40.2°C with sulphurous, alkaline water; their use is first recorded in 1662. Trip leader: Nikos Semertzoglou. Departure Sat 21/11 at 06:30, return Sun 22/11 at 20:00 (both indicative). Includes 1 night at the Tempi-Meteora hotel in Loutra Smokovou with breakfast, coach transport, certified mountain guides (graduates, members of ΕΣΑΒ, professionally certified by ΕΟΠΠΕΠ) who are also certified in first aid and CPR; the group's professional equipment (group first-aid kits, AED defibrillator, UHF/VHF radios, assisting ropes, a stretcher, and trekking poles to lend); civil liability insurance; photo coverage; a 4K short film uploaded to the organizer's YouTube channel; and organization costs and VAT, plus drone filming if conditions allow. Not included: meals; use of the baths (pool €5, pool + hammam €12, pool + sauna €12, pool + hammam + sauna €15); the BBQ and raki-still gathering (€20: BBQ with plenty of tsipouro, steaks, sausages, salads, tzatziki, traditional pies, wine, and a demonstration of traditional tsipouro making); anything not in the programme.
