8th Kerkini Lake Run, moved to the winter season. Start and finish at the chapel of Agios Stefanos on the eastern embankment of Lake Kerkini, next to the Greek water buffalo farm, in Chrysochorafa (Municipality of Iraklia, about 5 km from Iraklia). The three races start in succession from 11:00. Flat, dirt lakeside course on the embankment, the grazing ground of the Greek water buffalo; the routes reach Limnochori (21 km) and Lithotopos (21 km and 10 km), linking the three lakeside villages of the municipality. On two-way sections runners go out on the right and return on the left. Km signs, ribbons and paint marking. Half marathon (KLR27), age 18+. 5.5 km north along the embankment, turn after Limnochori, back south past the start, second turnaround at the Lithotopos dam (km 16), finish at Agios Stefanos. After km 11 it meets the returning 5 km and 10 km runners. Aid every 2.5 km (water, isotonic, salty and sweet snacks, gel); energy gel and a meal with local products for 21 km finishers. Time limit 4 hours; cut-off 2 hours at km 11, when passing the start. Maximum 150 runners. Included for all races: electronic chip timing, medical cover, aid on course, light meal at the finish, finisher medal for valid finishes, photos. Medals and gifts for the top 3 men and women of each race; no prize money; special awards to be announced. Results the same day on kerkinilakerun.gr and the race's Facebook/Instagram; printable certificates on the website. Optional KLR27 souvenirs ordered with registration until 24 January 2027 (later orders can be placed on race day and are posted a few days after): bandana €7, technical short-sleeve or long-sleeve shirt €10 each, hooded windproof rain jacket €20, membrane windproof rain jacket €22. Registration on athletin.gr opened 30 October 2026; deadline with souvenir order 24 January 2027, plain registration until 4 February 2027. Same price for early, group and individual entries. Refunds until 24 January 2027 by email to kerkinilakerun@yahoo.gr. No medical certificate is requested; by registering, runners declare they were recently examined by a doctor and are fit to race. Under-18s need a gov.gr declaration from a parent or guardian, emailed to kerkinilakerun@yahoo.gr or handed in at the race office before bib pickup (paper forms available there for those who can't use gov.gr). Race day: bib pickup 08:30–10:15 at the start area or, depending on the weather, at the Chrysochorafa Cultural Centre (about 1 km from the start); race office closes 10:30; awards 13:00–13:30; races close 15:00. Changing rooms, bag storage and toilets at the Chrysochorafa Cultural Centre; parking on the roads below the embankment just before the start. Recommended gear: trail running shoes, hat or bandana and gloves, windproof or waterproof jacket, own bottle and bars/gels for extra fuelling. In extreme weather (snow, frost, heavy rain, mud, fog) the races may be postponed or cancelled, with entries carried over to the next edition or race packs posted.
