Sunday 8 November: autumn loop hike on the slopes of Parnonas around the historic village of Karyes in Laconia, home of the Caryatids, followed by a group meal at a traditional tavern in Karyes. The route starts from the village (950 m) on the waymarked Caryatides Trails, through dense chestnut forest, fir forest and streams with running water, past the Caryatids monument (a replica of the Erechtheion section) and traditional stone bridges, and returns to the start. Organizer figures: 9.5 km, ±390 m, grade Α → Α+, 3:20 h net walking (4:20 h with stops). Suitable for beginners as well, provided they are in good physical condition, as the climb totals 390 m. After the hike the coach takes the group to a local tavern in the village for the group meal (traditional Laconian cuisine, vegan options available). Meeting at 06:40 at the Agios Antonios metro stop; departure by private tourist coach 07:00; event end 20:30. Gear: hiking boots with a good sole and stability, small day pack, water and personal snack, light windproof or waterproof jacket depending on the weather, hiking poles (optional), a change of clothes and shoes left on the coach.
