Easy hike of about 7 km and 3 hours with about 200 m of climbing, suitable for beginners in good shape. It starts just outside Karyes, the historic Parnon village linked to the Caryatids, beside a stream, and climbs for about 2.7 km through oak forest to the Tree of Agios Athanasios. Then on to Varvitsa for its Pumpkin Pie Festival, with traditional food, local dishes, music and dancing, and the procession of the icon of Agios Dimitrios on horseback. Coach from the Agios Antonios metro station in Peristeri at 06:00, back around 21:00. The €40 includes the coach (driver's meal, fuel and tolls), mountain guides who graduated from a guide school and are trained in first aid, organisation costs, civil liability insurance, photos and 24% VAT.
