Big nature hike held as part of the Marathon Month 2026, open to all. Meet at 08:45 at the car park of the Marathon Archaeological Museum, then drive in your own cars to the end of the Avlona Vrana valley on Avlonos street, where the hike starts at 09:00. The route climbs the winding dirt road to the two chapels of Osios Loukas and Profitis Ilias (Stamata), with views over north-east Attica, the bay of Marathon and Evia, and returns the same way. About 5 km on a forest road with many erosion gullies; it may be extended if the group feels like it. Altitude 72-364 m. 2.5-3 hours including stops. Grade 1+, suitable for beginners in good physical condition. Pets are welcome. Led by a Marathon Paths mountain guide. Participation is at your own responsibility. Wear clothing suitable for the season and non-slip hiking boots or trekking shoes, and bring a waterproof/windproof jacket, a hat, poles and a backpack with at least 1 L of water, snacks, energy bars, fruit and nuts, and (mandatory) your personal first-aid kit with your daily medication.
