Three days and three hikes in Mani before Christmas, no previous mountain experience needed. Day 1: from Athens to Geraki and a short climb to its Byzantine acropolis (easy-moderate), then the Diros Caves (largely by boat) and Areopoli. Day 2: Tigani - Castle of Maina coastal hike (about 4.5-5 km, 1.5-2 h, +180 m, moderate), Vathia and Gerolimenas, then from Kokkinogeia past the sanctuary of Poseidon Tainarios to the Tainaro (Cape Matapan) lighthouse (about 4-5 km, 1.5-2 h, easy-moderate) and Porto Kagio. Day 3: walk around Gythio and Kranai islet, the Dimitrios shipwreck at Valtaki, and a Christmas wine tasting with a festive meal at a Laconian winery; back in Athens in the evening. Included: coach from and to Athens, 2 nights at the Areos Polis Boutique Hotel in Areopoli with breakfast, entry to the Geraki acropolis, the Diros Caves tour, the wine tasting and Christmas meal, certified mountain guides, group first-aid kit, civil liability insurance and VAT.
