Circular hike on Chortiatis above Thessaloniki, from Kisseos St through the forest to the SEO Chortiatis refuge and on to Kolosourtis peak (1,089 m), then back to the start. The path is named after the villagers who carried ice from the mountain down to Thessaloniki, and the old cobbled surface still survives in places; on a clear day the view reaches the Thermaic Gulf, Olympus and Lake Volvi. 9 km, +/-510 m (629 to 1,089 m), 4-4.5 hours, difficulty 1.5-2/5, moderate-to-good fitness; ages 14+ with a guardian. Meet 10:00 at the main trail entrance in Chortiatis (own transport), start 10:15, rest at the refuge 11:15, summit 12:30, back at the start by 14:00-14:30. €10 per person.
