The 1st Igoumenitsa Trail Run is organised by the Igoumenitsa Runners Club with the support of the Municipality of Igoumenitsa, aiming to showcase the natural wealth of the area, develop mountain running and establish a new sporting institution. The event has two races: 6.5 km starting at 10:00 with 200 m of positive elevation gain, and 15 km starting at 10:20 with 600 m of positive elevation gain. Start and finish at the «Michalis Ganas» Theatre. The races are held on the trail network of the Igoumenitsa Grove, in the Dasaki – Tsipouriki area, with appropriate waymarking. Course managers: Christos Gkouras and Giorgos Asimakis. The entry fee is €15 for each of the two races and includes a commemorative race T-shirt. Registration closes on Sunday 22 November 2026; no new entries can be submitted after the deadline. Entry is open exclusively to people over 18. There will be the necessary medical and health cover, as well as feed and support stations. Age categories in both races: Men 18–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60+ and Women 18–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60+. The top three men and top three women of the overall ranking are also awarded; overall winners are excluded from the age categories. Every finisher receives a commemorative medal. The race office operates on Sunday 6 December, 07:30–09:30, at the «Michalis Ganas» Theatre for bib pickup. Awards ceremony at 12:00 at the finish area. In extreme weather conditions the organisers reserve the right to change the course or postpone the start of the races for a shorter or longer period, always with the runners' physical integrity and safety in mind. Disqualification for: not displaying or altering the bib, littering, obstructing another runner or unsporting behaviour, not following the marshals' instructions, rudeness or improper behaviour towards the organising committee, marshals, volunteers etc., missing a checkpoint, and refusing an examination by the race doctor if deemed necessary at any time during the race. Disclaimer: the organisers are not liable for death, injury or any harm to the runners' health. By submitting their entry, runners declare that they are aware of the risks of the physical effort, confirm that their health is good and allows them to race, and that they have recently been examined by a doctor; runners are obliged to undergo regular preventive medical check-ups. The Igoumenitsa Trail Run respects the natural environment: keep the trails and the mountain clean and do not drop litter on the course.
