1st edition of the Roads of Freedom (Dromoi Eleftherias), marking 200 years since the Exodus of Messolonghi (10 April 1826), when the besieged defenders broke out and the survivors marched to Nafplio, then capital of revolutionary Greece. Organized by the International Academy of Freedom, with members from six historical and local associations, under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, the GNTO (EOT), the General Secretariat of Sports, the Regions of Western Greece and Central Greece, the municipalities along the route and the federations PANSY, OSYN and of Aigialeia. The 80 km follows the first part of the Messolonghi–Nafplio ultra, from Messolonghi through Evinochori, Koutsocheri, Paradeisi, Analipsi (Dervekista), Artotiva Bridge and Achladokastro to Platanos in Nafpaktia, mostly on asphalt with a few sections of good dirt road. Finishing after the 12-hour limit counts as DNF. The entry includes a bib, electronic chip timing, aid stations with water, isotonic drinks and snacks (hot food at the central stations), medical cover, transport for runners who do not finish, GPS tracking with an SOS button, and a finisher medal, t-shirt and diploma. Crew support is allowed only at the organization's aid tables (30 m before and after); any help between stations means disqualification. Awards: a special award to the overall winner and to the next three men and three women. On Wednesday 19 May 2027 at 16:30 there is a ceremony honouring all athletes at the Garden of Heroes in Messolonghi. The closing and awards ceremony is on Monday 24 May 2027 at 18:00 at the Vouleftiko in Nafplio. Cancellations with a refund (minus bank charges) are accepted until 20 March 2027. Medical cover along the route by doctors, rescuers and EKAB. All participants declare they have had medical check-ups and run at their own risk. Contact: runtofreedom1826@gmail.com.
