Dedicated to the liberation anniversary of Edessa, under the motto "Run Free, Think Free, Create Free". Organised in cooperation with local sports clubs (Gymnastics Club of Edessa, Edessaiki Gymnastiki Enosi, Edessa Veteran Athletes Club, PAS Aeropos Edessa), Edessa volunteers and high schools, local associations, with the support of Edessa Traffic Police. Participants over 18 run at their own responsibility and must have a recent medical check-up; under-18s need a signed declaration from a parent. Online registration costs €8 (by 27/10); registration on race day (up to 2 hours before the start) is possible for a very limited number of runners at €10. The fee covers race costs, electronic timing, the medal and other expenses, and also supports a local organisation for vulnerable groups (this year: Edessa Cancer Patients Association). Race office: Saturday 31/10, 10:00-17:00, at the Small Waterfalls (Mikroi Katarraktes). Bib with timing chip worn on the chest; runners who registered and paid by 27/10 get their full name printed on the bib. Men's and women's changing rooms, WC, doctor and bag storage by volunteers (show your bib). Course: from the Small Waterfalls Park along the riverside road to Varosi (old town), the Waterfalls Park, the swimming pool and the Byzantine bridge (Ancient Via Egnatia), returning parallel to the rivers to the finish at the Small Waterfalls Park on the central pedestrian street. The whole course is hard-surfaced and flat, with a marker at every kilometre. Aid stations at the start and finish. Chip timing with two control points (midway and finish); runners who do not follow the course and control points are disqualified, and no time is recorded without a chip. At the finish: water, juices and apples from the Vegoritida Apple Festival; a shelter area is available in bad weather. Awards at the finish at 20:00: medal and diploma for the top 3 men and women in every category, cup for the 1st man/woman of each category, commemorative medal for all finishers. Categories: Men up to 18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+; Women up to 29, 30-49, 50+. Medical cover: ambulance with doctor, doctors at start/finish and certified rescuers. Edessa Traffic Police will close the roads on the course, together with volunteer cyclists. After the race: Volunteers' DJ Party with awards at the Small Waterfalls, in cooperation with the Municipality of Edessa Volunteer Register.
